A global steakhouse brand operating inside the Amara Hotel on the Limassol seafront, serving some of the best beef available in Cyprus alongside a serious wine list and service that matches the setting. Expensive, unapologetically so, and in this case the price is justified.
Is It Worth Visiting?
Yes, provided you know what you are walking into. This is not a casual dinner decision and it does not pretend to be. Expect to spend around 300 to 350 euro for two with good cuts and a mid level wine. What you get for that is exceptional meat, a genuinely well built wine list, polished service and a room that feels like a destination rather than a hotel restaurant.
If you want the best steak on the island and the bill is not the deciding factor, Beefbar belongs on your list. If you are after value for money in the ordinary sense, look elsewhere. Those are two different questions and it only answers the first.
Our rating: 4.5 out of 5
A Global Brand, Done Properly in Limassol
Beefbar is not simply another steakhouse. It is an international brand with its flagship in Monaco and sites around the world that follow a very clear identity. That matters, because when a name like this arrives in Cyprus, expectations climb immediately and plenty of international openings on the island have failed to meet them.
What struck me from the first visit is that Beefbar Limassol does not feel like a diluted version of the brand. It feels confident, properly resourced and aligned with the international standard. You know within a minute of walking in that the kitchen is serious.
The Amara Hotel setting helps, sitting directly on the beachfront, though once you are seated the hotel disappears entirely. That is worth noting, because the Amara also houses Matsuhisa, which we found considerably less convincing. Same building, very different outcome.
The Room and the Details
The decor is what you would expect from a high end international steakhouse without tipping into cold or intimidating. Clean lines, warm tones, good materials and a layout that manages to feel open and intimate at once.
The details stand out. Distinctive plates, good cutlery, well chosen glassware. Small things, but at this price they matter, and everything feels deliberate rather than bought as a set. You can dress up here comfortably and you will not feel out of place if you do not, which is a balance a lot of restaurants in this bracket get wrong.
The Meat, Where Beefbar Earns Its Reputation
The meat quality is exceptional, and this is the whole point of the restaurant. The range of cuts is wide, sourced internationally and cooked with real precision. You can taste the difference immediately in the texture and in the way the beef has been handled on the grill.
One thing I particularly appreciate is that the value does not all sit at the top of the price list. Several of the more accessible cuts deliver as much enjoyment as the ultra premium options. The expensive cuts are excellent, but you are not being punished for choosing something less flashy, and in a category where restaurants usually push diners hard towards the most expensive line on the menu, that restraint is unusual.
For comparison at the other end of the scale, Prime Steakhouse at City of Dreams is the closest rival in Limassol and worth reading alongside this.
Truffle Fries, Burgers and the Supporting Cast
The truffle fries deserve their own mention. The portion is generous to the point of being surprising for a restaurant at this level, and they are genuinely excellent. Crisp, aromatic and the sort of side you keep returning to long after you have announced you are finished.
The burger is where I have a small complaint. When Beefbar Limassol first opened, the sliders came with a secret sauce that set them apart completely, and it was one of the things I recommended the place for. The burger has changed since. It remains very good and the meat quality is still excellent, but that original sauce is missed. It is not a reason to avoid the restaurant, though it is the kind of thing you only notice if you have been several times.
The Wine List
The wine list is exactly what you would hope for at this level. Extensive without being unwieldy, and clearly built around meat rather than assembled to look impressive.
On one visit we stayed with Tempranillo, which paired beautifully with the beef, and also worked through a very solid Spanish Riscal. The staff know the list, make recommendations comfortably and never push. Wine here feels like part of the meal rather than an upsell, which is not always the case in Limassol.
Desserts Worth Saving Room For
If you assume Beefbar is only about meat, the desserts will change your mind. The chocolate souffle is outstanding: generous, rich and properly executed, indulgent without being sickly. It is large enough to share, though you may resent having offered once it arrives. The chocolate praline is also strong. These are not filler courses added to complete a menu.
Service
Polished and professional without being stiff. The staff know the menu, understand the differences between cuts and explain them without making you feel examined. Pacing is excellent, which matters more than people credit. You are neither rushed nor forgotten, and the evening moves at the speed it should.
What It Costs
Worth being blunt about. A proper meal for two, with good cuts and a mid level bottle, sits comfortably around 300 to 350 euro. That is the reality and there is no point dressing it up.
What you are paying for is consistency, ingredient quality, service and a complete experience rather than just a piece of beef. At this level value is not about being inexpensive, it is about whether the evening justifies the number on the bill. Here it does. That is not true of every expensive restaurant in Limassol, and we have said so elsewhere, including in our review of ORIS at Trilogy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Beefbar Limassol?
Inside the Amara Hotel on the Limassol seafront. It operates as a destination restaurant rather than a hotel dining room, and you do not need to be a guest.
How much does dinner at Beefbar Limassol cost?
Budget around 300 to 350 euro for two people with good cuts and a mid level wine. You can spend considerably more, and somewhat less if you choose the more accessible cuts, which we would recommend anyway.
Do you need to book?
Yes, particularly through summer and at weekends. This is one of the busiest high end rooms in Limassol.
Is there a dress code?
Nothing formal is enforced. Most people dress up a little and you will not feel out of place if you do not.
Is Beefbar better than the traditional Cypriot taverns?
It is not competing with them and should not be judged against them. For grilled meat in the Cypriot tradition, our guide to the best meat taverns in Cyprus is the better starting point, and the two experiences have almost nothing in common beyond the raw ingredient.
Final Thoughts
Beefbar Limassol is not trying to compete with traditional taverns or casual steakhouses, and it should not. It sits in its own category and it occupies it confidently.
If you want one of the best steak restaurants in Cyprus, somewhere the meat, the wine, the room and the service all operate at the same high level, this belongs on the list. It is expensive and it is refined, but it is also consistent and genuinely enjoyable, which is why I keep going back. When someone asks where to go if they want the best, this is usually the answer.
